A Little Bit of Angel

My name is Angel M Randolph and this is my narrative essay. In this paper I will be talking about what I like to learn and what motivates me. I will also talk about some fear that I have that could hold me back.

What motivates me to be the best person inside and outside the classroom? I would have to say that my main motivation is Dakotah, my son. When I look at my son I know that I want to give him a decent life beyond what I can give him now. I also want him to grow up knowing that it is possible to follow your dreams because mommy did. Billy Graham an Evangelist and Southern Baptist Preacher had once said that, “The greatest legacy one can pass on to one’s children and grandchildren is not money or other material things accumulated in one’s life, but rather a legacy of character and faith.” (Compassion International).

Personally I love learning new things so I’m actually pretty excited to be starting school again. Gardening is one of the most satisfying skills that I’ve learned so far in life. There is something captivatingly beautiful about watching a seed sprout, continuing to grow every day.  I spent hours looking up what was the best way to go about tending and harvesting crops through the internet. Youtube.com helped a lot because I was able to learn when and how to plant, the best soils to use for different plants, and when to prune and harvest. The more time spent in the garden the more satisfying it is in the fall when harvest comes and you get to enjoy your crop. 

My biggest challenge this year is going to be self doubt, telling myself that I can’t accomplish my goals. Though I have been to rock bottom many different times in many different ways, I still push myself to believe that one day these dreams I have will be my future. A part of me feels as if I have a calling like I had to go to rock bottom so I had experience when I help others.  I’ve been taught a lot of rough lessons in the last few years the biggest being that you can’t save or change someone who doesn’t want it for themselves. It has taken me years of my life to fully come to this realization and accept it. Three and a half of those years I spent trying to make a relationship work where the other party did not want to change, wanting things his way only. Every day that passed by the less ‘helping him’ was happening so that I was losing myself more with time. As cliché as it sounds I didn’t want my little boy to lose his dad nor did I want to raise him on my own. Then I realized that doing this on my own was probably the best therefore I chose to go to school against all odds to fallow my dreams. 

My biggest goal in school is to learn as much as I can, I like to learn and I’ve missed it over the years. I would like to take as much as I knowledge as I can get into my head, preferably things that would help opening rehabilitating homeless shelters or writing. I also feel as though school is going to help me achieve being a better person to my community and family.

In conclusion we have learned that I, Angel M Randolph, loves to learn new things, strives to do better for my child, and has learn a lot of life lessons. We have also learned that I am trying to make a better life for myself and my child.
